Nightmare Park

In May 1980, Bob Chappel released a game for the Commodore PET computer named Nightmare Park.

I was lucky enough to have access to one of these wonderful machines, and I immediately fell in love with Bob's game. It undoubtedly played a part in shaping my life and career, and it'll always hold very special memories for me.

I recently realised that there was no Commodore 64 version of the game, so I thought I would convert it across, and this is the result of that project. The game is currently essentially identical to the original, with just a few minor tweaks, a little text tidying, and a few small control updates.

If you have fond memories of playing this in the past, I hope this brings back some happy memories for you. If you've not encountered it before then please take a look -- but be warned, this game is wickedly unfair! :-)

I've also decided to release the source code for this game as open source in case anyone else would like to delve into its inner workings. You can find the full source code in my Nightmare Park GitLab repo.
